Inclement weather reminder

With snow in the air here in Colorado, I thought that I would let you know that if we DO get a lot snow or ice, I might not be able to get to the store. We live a ways from the main roads that get plowed, and sometimes it’s just too treacherous for me to drive. I live a ways from the store and my weather might be a lot different than the weather in town. I always try to make it in, but there are those days that the roads are just not safe for me to drive that distance.

If the weather is ‘iffy’ feel free to call the store to see if I am open before you make a trip out. The number at the store is 303-665-1767, and if I don't answer, please leave me a message as I may be with a customer and unable to answer. I will return your call if I am in the store.
Thanks for your understanding.

John's 1st Wrestling Tournaments of the Season

Boy is it tough to get John up in the morning if he stayed up too late the night before, but when it comes to wrestling or rodeo, the kid is out of bed and out of the house before 6 am.

This past weekend he had a tournament on Saturday in Frederick and Sunday in Loveland. Both Saturday & Sunday he won a few matchs and lost a few. Came home with a couple of plaques for his wall on Sunday. He was tired but extremely excited.

I'll have to get a couple of pictures of him in his wrestling gear and post. He sure is cute, but then I am bias.

I am turning 50 and I am going to celebrate by giving YOU 50% off 1 piece of jewelry.

For my 50th birthday I am celebrating by giving you 50% off 1 piece of The Speckled Goose Jewelry.

Offer is good from Wednesday Oct 29th through Saturday November 8th.

Offer limited to 1 discount per person, and you must mention the newsletter to receive your discount.

That's right I am turning 50. Hard to believe, but there are days that I feel the 50 plus. I keep trying to tell John that mom is only 39, but he won't go for it. I guess that that would be a pretty weird discount to offer customers.

Stop by and help me celebrate my 50th.

~ John starts wrestling this week ~

John's wrestling club starts practicing tonight. He won't be going for a couple of week though as he still has two weeks left till the end of football. Apparently there is no rest for wicked kids either.

I'll have to find his recent football picture and post. He is getting so big and looks so grown up.

More later. Enjoy the fall weather. It is a little cooler this week. Ok for me it is cold. The high is about 55 - 60 degrees and cloudy and overcast.

It is starting to feel like fall in Colorado. I love this time of year. Cool nights and cooldays. The trees have beautiful colors going on. Sure makes it fun to sit in the house snuggled in a blanket watching football.

I am not enjoying the sweeping of the leaves, but it sure is better than the snow at this point. I'll have to get some pics of the trees around here and post.

John's 1st Football Game of Season

The Rebels did great yesterday (8 & under). I closed the store early so that I could go and watch their first game of the season. They won 38 - 12. John was so tired on the way home that he fell asleep. He is playing center, kick off return, and noseguard. He got a great workout.

All the coaches did a great job also. They do have a few things to work on, but they all did a great job and had lots of fun.

Holiday Weekend

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend. I worked on Saturday and Monday so my only day off was Sunday. I had a great day. Mark made us breakfast and John and I cleaned up the house a little.

Then the boys went to play, John lost his brand new glasses (just got Friday aftn), then they found them under Mark's foot, one of the lens fell out, and then he lost one of the lens. Well after much searching in the truck we (Mark) finally found the missing lens and I got them put them back together. Let's hope that doesn't happen again for quiet a while.

End of Summer is here

Well the kids are in school and Labor Day is just two days away. Can you believe it. Even with the heat around here I have noticed some trees starting to turn color. Not sure if it is because fall is coming or the lack of water or too much water.

John started school almost 2 weeks ago and is loving it. So is mom and dad. =) Football practice 4 times a week and games start next weekend. Football will even be on TV. I am looking forward to that. I love the cold weather, drinking cocoa and watching football.

Well I'd better get back to work. You all have a great Labor Day weekend.

Eggstravaganza a huge hit

On Saturday, March 15th, Lafayette had their annual Easter egg hunt. This year the Rec Dept added an eggstravaganza in Old Town which was a huge hit, and the weather was beautiful.

Kids got to gather eggs, eat peeps, visit a petting zoo, have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, along with collecting eggs at local business. Several of the local business' also donated Easter basket to some of the lucky egg hunters.

At The Speckled Goose I handed at approximately 150 eggs, and Haley d Pug had her picture taken with the Easter Bunny. I will get the pic posted soon. She wasn't too sure about it though.

March 4, 2008

Newsletter has hit the stands at The Speckled Goose

Tax Time

April 15th is fast approaching. I have read many articles about staying organized, and every year I tell my self that I am going to better next year. It seems that every year I am a little better organized, but not completely.

I always seem to slack off around the holidays and then have to play catch up. I would love to hear about what works for you, and how I can get on track and stay there, even through the holidays.

Spring Cleaning Mode

Anyone else in the spring cleaning mode? I sure am. Look out boys. Garbage man came last week and the dumpster is empty. =)

My booth at Noble Treasures has been totally re-done, along with The Speckled Goose. I even cleaned out my car and got stuff into the garage. No, the garage isn't cleaned out yet. It was too cold in the garage to work in there too much. Yes, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

I will get pictures taken this week and get them posted.

the New Year is upon us

Well the New Year is upon us, and in Colorado we are in the middle of an artic cold front. Yes, it is cold. When I started my car this morning it was -2 and is supposed to be in the 20's today.

John's 8th birthday is this Saturday, January 26th, and we will be spending it in Las Vegas at a Lamb Feeders convention. What you say??? Well ever since John was born, he has been spending his birthday somewhere other than at home. What are you going to do when the convention falls on his birthday every year? He'll be one little guy that can say that he has been . . . on his birthday, and here. . .

My goal for the year is to update The Speckled Goose blog at least weekly. Sometimes it may be about the store, and other times it may be about the ramblings of farm life.
