Happy New Year

I hope you all had a great Christmas, and have a safe and wonderful New Year!! I for one am glad that 2010 is almost over. It has been a long six months, and I am ready to start a fresh year!!

I haven't bloged much the last six months due to the loss of my mother, and my old dog Butch. I miss both of them a lot, and then the last three weeks I have been in bed for most of the time (or in the chair) with a whopping of a cold. I am getting back to normal, whatever that is. =)

We had a great Christmas at the Dumdi house, and I am looking forward to getting back to work. I have been busy at the antique store, and am still working Wednesday & Thursday, if you're in Old Town Lafayette. Haley d'Pug and I would love to see you.

More soon, and it sure feels good to get back to work!!

Snow has hit the metro Denver area

We all have been waiting for the weather to change, and now it has. We went from mid-70s to snow. Only in Colorado can you see that kind of change. It sure is pretty, and we need the mositure.

Things have been moving along at The Speckled Goose, and tomorrow it will start look like the holiday season. I am not sure I am ready for Christmas yet, but the calendar says that it is coming, and coming FAST!!

I am working on some changes at The Speckled Goose, and I am excited about telling everyone about them, but you're going to have to wait a couple of weeks. Don't worry it is all for the good!! I am continuing to work on tags, greeting cards, and need to get myself in gear and get the calendars that I have promised created and added to the website.

More later, hope you all have a great rest of the week.

What's new at The Speckled Goose

It was brought to my attention today that I need to get back to blogging. I have been away from it since my mother was sick this summer. I agreed with Helen, and decided that there is no better time to get back at it.

What has been happening at the Goose you ask? Well, we have moved into a new space within Noble Treasures, and I have a lot more time to create which I am loving. I am missing the daily intereaction with customers, although I still get to do that at Noble Treasures.

I have been working long hours on my printables, graphics, and making cards, tags, recipe cooks, and more for the store.

I am off and back to work. You all have a great weekend, and I'll be back with lots more!!

Long Summer and Back to Work

It sure has been a long summer for our family. My mom went to the doctor and the technican did some adjustments on her pacemaker. Needless to say, I believe that was the begininng of the end. She immediately started having breathing problems, but thought that was normal. Didn't tell my sister (who is a nurse) because of what she would say.

Mom and her hubby took a trip to Idaho to visit my sister, and she was immediately put into the hospital for the week. Got her stable and sent her back home to California. Had several doctors appointments, but nothing was done. Then her hubby took her to the hospital.

We (I) was in Paradise hospital for almost two weeks, then we had mom transferred to San Francisco. Spent about one and a half weeks there. Docs did all they could for her and it we were basically told it is now a waiting process. Can we get better enough to live in an assisted living facility or ???? Mom would never go back and take care of her home.

We got mom stable and then transferred her to Boise, Idaho, closer to my sister, (and a little closer for me). She was doing better, but not good enough for an assisted living facility yet. Then she took a turn for the worse. I headed that way, Jacque flew out, and the three of us girls spent the next week and half with mom, and then the Lord took her to another place.

She is no longer suffering, for which I am glad, but I miss her. The family then gathered back in Paradise, California to clean out her house, memorial service, and then place mom where she belongs, which back with our dad.

I am now back at home, John is back in school, The Speckled Goose is taking on more space inside Noble Treasures. That move should be completed within the next few days. No rest for the wicked, but I didn't realize that I was that wicked. =)

Next post I'll show you what I have been up to the last week or so, and then I am back to work again.

Have a great rest of your weekend.

Nancie

ps - thanks for all the thoughts and prayers during this long summer I have had.

~ Norfolk Virginia Eagles have already HATCHED ~

Oh my goodness, I just went to one of my links from last year, and found that the Norfolk Virginia Eagles have laid their eggs, and hatched 3 already. I am sitting here watching mom feed the babies right now. I am so excited because I didn't realize that we already have eaglets!!

Here is the link ~ http://www.wvec.com/marketplace/microsite-content/eagle-cam.html

~ What's New this Week ~

It is a beautiful day in Colorado. Supposed to be in th high 60s and tomorrow they are forcasting for 5-10 inches of snow. Only in Colorado.

If you haven't had time to check out the eagle cams, I recomend you do. It is such wonderful watching, and an educational experience for all. I haven't checked out very many camera yet this spring, but I must get on it. The Sutton Center Eagles have laid 3 eggs, and are really taking great care of them. I have gotten to watch the changing of the guard a couple of times so far. The guys behind these camera do such a great job, and don't get enough thanks for credit. When you visit, please give them your thanks also.

No, Eagle watching is not all I have been getting done. =) I have been doing lots of other things, but I do have the camera up most of the time. =) it is in the corner of my computer screen.

Ok, on to what else has been going on. Easter cards, Easter tags, Easter baskets, and oh, did I tell you I am working on Easter stuff? We have primitive bunnies, we have bunnies made out of vintage chinelle, we have spring pillows, and are adding more garden items all the time.

Several more items have been added to the websites, and I am still add more daily. If you haven't stopped by recently, please do and see what has been added.

John has a music concert tonight, so what should be fun. He is not looking forward to it. Boys - he would rather be out playing baseball, hunting the birds, or anything else boys do.

Hope you all have a great day, and week.

I am so jealous of my son

I am so jealous of my son - him and his dad went to the stock show last night, he moved to a lower seat above the bucking shoots, and ended up he was sitting in Don Baylor and Jim Tracy's seats (they are Colorado Rockies coaches).

Both men had him stay there, and talked the night away with him and asking questions about the rodeo, as that was Jim's first time at a rodeo. How cool is that. I am so jealous!!!!!!

At the time John didn't know that the seats belonged to Don and Jim because they were in the stage coach during an intermission. Boy did he come home excited!!

If you are looking for unique cream & sugar sets, we have added several styles, along with cut glass, and USA pottery.

~ Store Hours ~

Wanted to let everyone know that our store hours are back to normal:

Wednesday through Saturday
10 am - 6 pm

Our On-line Store is still open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

~ Back in Colorado ~

We are home from our long road trip. We had so much fun visiting family in Idaho and Oregon, and of course I went shopping. That was a lot of fun.

Apparently Haley thinks that we did not bond enough in the truck as she thinks that I should be holding her all day, but customers call. Maybe I spent too much time with her??

I got some BEAUTIFUL wool yarn that I am going to use on my dolls. I can hardly see them with it. I am so excited.

I also picked up a bunch of stuff from my sister's that she was storing for me, an oak table that was my grandmother's, a tea cart that was my grandfather's on my dad's side, my mom's cedar chest, and so much more. I still have to go through all of the boxes to see what is there.
